Our Key Milestones

Establishment and Development (1987 - 2000)

The company “DIMITRA” was founded in 1989 as a Civil Non-Profit Company, aiming to promote vocational training. In 1990, the company submitted and secured approval for its first vocational training programs, which were included in the Mediterranean Integrated Programs (MIPs), and began implementing projects under the 1st Community Support Framework (1st CSF).

Subsequently, “DIMITRA” opened branches in various cities across Greece, expanding its operations, and in 1992 took its first step abroad with the establishment of a branch in Brussels. In 1994, it participated in the European network EUROTECNET, and in 1995 developed the first multimedia European training CD-ROM on management.

A major milestone was achieved in 1996 when the company received its first certification as a Vocational Training Centre (KEK), with newly established and upgraded branches. The company continued investing in technology, developing Greece’s first online educational environment in 1997, followed by the launch of the “Educational Avenue” in 1998.

In 2000, “DIMITRA” was transformed from a Civil Non-Profit Company into a Société Anonyme (S.A.), marking the beginning of a new phase of growth and development.

Since 2001, “DIMITRA” has been continuously strengthening its position in the field of vocational training. The company received its third certification as a VTC (Vocational Training Center) in 2001 and expanded with new facilities in Larissa, Athens, and Thessaloniki. In 2002, it began implementing projects under the 3rd Community Support Framework (CSF III), and in 2003, it was recognized as the top-rated VTC by EKEPIS.

With the implementation of ERP software in 2004, “DIMITRA” improved the management of its operational resources. The acquisition of the research and consulting company CORPUS S.A. in 2004 and the certification according to the EN ISO 9001:2000 quality management standard in 2005 reflect the company’s strategic focus on excellence and quality.

The period 2007–2015 includes the company’s participation in the NSRF (National Strategic Reference Framework) and its expansion into new business activities, such as the establishment of HELLENIC COLLEGE in 2008 and participation in e-TUTOR for online learning. In 2013, the ΙΙΕΚ DIMITRA received a license from the General Secretariat for Lifelong Learning and Youth, and in 2014 it was licensed as a Level 2 Lifelong Learning Center (Ke.Di.Vi.M 2). The certification of a new branch in Volos in 2015 marked the latest major milestone in the company’s development.

“DIMITRA” continues to evolve, aiming to provide innovative training and education solutions tailored to the ever-changing needs of the labor market and educational demands.

Through pioneering education and training programs, we enhance employability and cultivate equal opportunities for all. We design and implement solutions that respond to the needs of the modern economy, with a strong focus on the development of digital skills, professional specialization, and sustainable entrepreneurship. At the same time, we support social cohesion by empowering vulnerable groups and creating a learning environment that encourages continuous development and innovation.

The NSRF 2014–2020 served as a catalyst for the regeneration of the Greek economy, emphasizing the enhancement of competitiveness, extroversion, and business sustainability. The organization “DIMITRA” S.A. played an active role in shaping strategies to strengthen human capital, contributing to the adaptation of knowledge and skills to future demands.

Through integrated interventions, we promote the development of sustainable jobs, the inclusion of vulnerable social groups, and the transformation of the educational system to better meet the demands of a rapidly evolving labor market. Our ultimate goal is to mitigate the social and economic impacts of unemployment and to create a more resilient and dynamic production model.

In this context, our organization is at the forefront of implementing innovative and co-financed non-formal learning programs, utilizing funding tools such as the European Social Fund (ESF), the European Social Fund+ (ESF+), the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the Just Transition Fund (JTF), and the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF).

Creativity and innovation are not luxuries but essential prerequisites for a sustainable and dynamic future. With vision and strategy, we continue to shape educational experiences that inspire, empower, and transform our social and economic environment.
